Abstract
LoRa (low-power, wide-range) or Zigbee (low-power, mid-range) wireless communication has been selectively considered to communicate between nodes (sensor-nodes and actuator nodes) and gateway for the environment monitoring and control in smartfarm. The choice is made by the communication distance based on the size of smartfarm. In this work, LoRa and Zigbee communication circuits (master and slave) were manufactured to analyze the communication success rate by the distance. The communication success rate of Zigbee started to drop after 200 m and maintain 40% of communication success rate at 400 m distance. The wireless communication protocol should be selected based on the location of the gateway together with communication success rate.
