LED study for light source in the plant factory

Abstract

A term ‘plant factory’ refers to an indoor farm equipped with automation and remote technology which provides optimal environmental condition for plants to have maximum and high-quality production. The plant factory supply light, temperature, humidity, nutrients, gas and other environmental factors. Most plant factory is fully enclosed system which is isolated from solar radiation. Therefore, selection and design of artificial light source is up most important design factor of plant factory due to direct relation with photosynthesis. In this article, we would like to highlight and compare characteristics of artificial light source, including LED(light emitting diode), to be used for plant factory. Also, several recent research of LEDs in plant factory related to growth of plant are studied.
