Abstract
Recently, the automation of the measuring and packaging processes for the mass production of fresh-cut fruits is drawing attention as the growth of one-person households has been increasing significantly. In this study, the impulse of the free falling fresh-cut fruits was investigated as a basic experiment to design the automatic fresh-cut fruit feeding machine. This machine contains a conveyor belt system to move the fruits, and an automatic weighing device to feed the same amount of fruits. The falling impulse was measured by using a digital balance. As a result, the longer dropping distance provoked the higher impact, and the opening speed of the feeding device;188 rad/s, resulted in the successful feed of fresh-cut fruits. It is considered to investigate the effect of the shorter distance between the cup sealer and the feeding device, and the surface roughness in the feeding device for decreasing the falling impulse.
