Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the fatigue life of rear driving axle gear pairs on multi-purpose agricultural machinery for the optimal transmission design. Rear driving axle consists of one bevel gear pair and two planetary gear set. Simulation model was developed to analyze the fatigue life of rear driving axle gear pairs. Simulation time was set to 2,736 hours considering the service life of agricultural tractor. Fatigue life of gear pairs was analyzed considering the safety factor. Safety factor for tooth root and tooth face breakage of the driving and driven bevel gear pair were calculated to 0.53, 0.37 and 0.76, 0.68, respectively. Also, safety factor for tooth root and tooth face breakage of sun, planet, and ring gear set of the planetary gear were calculated 0.36, 0.26, 0.40 and 0.35, 0.44, 0.30, respectively. The result of the life evaluation showed that all gears of rear driving axle will be occurred breakage on gear tooth and tooth face. In the future study, the accurated simulation condition will be needed to analyze accureated fatigue life evaluation.
